Join us for an enthralling talk on the Siege of Malta in 1565, a dramatic clash that pitted the outnumbered Knights Hospitaller against the mighty Ottoman Empire. This pivotal four-month standoff, from May to September, saw just 6,000 defenders—knights, soldiers, and Maltese locals—hold the island’s fortifications against a relentless force of over 30,000 Ottoman troops under Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent.

John Greenacre will unravel the strategic brilliance of Grand Master Jean de Valette, the brutal sieges of key forts like St. Elmo, and the desperate battles that turned the tide, culminating in the Ottoman retreat on September 11. Discover how this epic defense not only saved Malta but reshaped the balance of power in the Mediterranean, leaving a legacy of resilience that echoes through history. Expect gripping tales of heroism, sacrifice, and survival that bring this 16th-century epic to life!
