Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), or drones as they are more commonly known, have fundamentally changed warfare as most recently evidenced through the wealth of film footage depicting their use and effectiveness on the battlefields of Ukraine.
Retired soldier Robin Phayre, himself a professional drone operator, will explain how drones are deployed and armed by both sides in the Ukraine conflict and discuss how electronic warfare has been developed to defend against and defeat them. With their increasing sophistication, the application of artificial intelligence and the potential for swarms, submarine and nuclear, Robin will posit how drones might be deployed in the future.

There is a small car park and lay-by opposite St John’s Place on Lower Road (for approx. 20 cars). Parking is also allowed on single yellow lines on Lower Road after 6pm. Alternative car parking is available at The Clubhouse, Salisbury and South Wilts Sports Club (SP2 9NY) and a pathway connects to St John’s Place.
